Control for the decisive take.
Limited space on location, more room for the camera to move: we use the Flex Pro Arm as a compact camera crane for cars, aircraft cabins and other confined interiors. With a fixed mounting on a head, it guides the camera into areas where a conventional crane setup would occupy too much space.
MOVCAM originally developed the FlexPro for body-worn use with a Steadicam. For our work, the fixed-mounted small-crane configuration has proved more useful. We adapt the setup to the available space and intended camera movement.
Our work with this setup includes vehicle interiors and filming inside aircraft. The arm may also be an option for small sets or shots through narrow openings, depending on access, clearance, the camera package and safe mounting.
For stabilised camera movement, we combine the Flex Pro Arm with the DJI RS 4 Pro from the Ronin series. DJI specifies a tested payload of 4.5 kg for this gimbal. The entire package mounted on the gimbal counts, including the lens and accessories; dimensions, balance and clearance must also be suitable.
We have had very good results controlling the camera with NODO Inertia Wheels. The handwheels give us sensitive, precise camera positioning — particularly useful when framing and movement must be coordinated closely in confined interiors.
- 01Fixed mounting on a head rather than body-worn operation
